Nature Time! is a Forest Kindergarten experience for children ages 2 - 8. It is child-centered learning through authentic play, where nature is the primary teacher. Designed to meaningfully connect children (and their families) to nearby nature, as well as enhance and expand social/emotional learning, academics, and outdoor skills, Nature Time! provides children with essential unstructured time in nature.
I offer Nature Time! to support:
children & families who are over-scheduled with indoor activities
families who do not have safe & easy access to green spaces
parents & caregivers with errands to run and childcare needs
families who value unstructured time in nature for their child, but don't have capacity to support it
Whether it's for enriching their indoor learning, or getting kids off screens, or giving grown-ups space to take care of family needs, Nature Time! gives your whole family what they need.
What you need to know:
All new families
(i.e. children who have not been in nature with Frog previously) must schedule a 30 minute meet-n-greet before scheduling the first drop-off.
Everyone must read the handbook, then fill out, sign, and return these forms before the first drop-off (they're included in the handbook):
Application & Childcare Contract
Medical Release Form
Consent & Release - for photo/video/audio (only IF you consent)
When scheduling, you must schedule at least 2 hours and no more than 4 hours at a time. I will always try to offer up to 6 hours to choose from. What you see on the calendar is my availability.
Once you click on the hours you want, you will be asked to choose your top three locations; the final determination will be by majority rule (i.e. if 2 out of 3 families choose a particular green space, then that's where we meet - I will have up to 3 children with me at a time). You will be sent the location via text no later than the day before. I am open to other options (so please reach out). For now, here are the current options:
Lake Wilderness
Summit Park
Henry's Ridge Open Space
Black Diamond Natural Area
Lake Sawyer Regional Park
Rock Creek Natural Area
Lake Meridian Park
Pricing: $20/hr per child (for groups); $25/hr per child (1:1) - I will always try to have a full complement of kids, as their interactions are where the magic happens.
If you need to schedule less than 48 hours in advance, you must email me. I will respond with info on availability and logistics.
After you read the family handbook, please let me know if you have any questions. I recommend you coordinate with friends - this is an excellent opportunity to facilitate play-dates!
